Lagos State Promotes Water Conservation on World Water Day

On World Water Day, Lagos State officials, including Tokunbo Wahab from the Lagos State Commission for Environment and Water Resources, called on residents to prioritize water conservation. The message highlighted the significance of clean water access, especially given that 2.1 billion people globally lack safe water.

This year's theme focuses on empowering women and girls in water management, promoting equal access to clean water. The Lagos State government outlined several initiatives to enhance water supply, including rehabilitating existing waterworks, investing in new infrastructure, and exploring partnerships to secure funding and expertise.

The goal is to ensure that all homes have access to clean water by 2027, while also implementing measures to reduce reliance on alternative sources such as boreholes and wells. The campaign encourages collective action, emphasizing that every drop of water counts in the effort to promote sustainability and improve water management.
