Lesotho PM Invites Nigerian Investors Amid Xenophobia

On Wednesday, during the Nigeria-Lesotho B2B Business Meeting in Abuja, Prime Minister Sam Matekane of Lesotho called on Nigerian investors to move their businesses from South Africa to Lesotho, assuring them of security amid recent xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa. The meeting, facilitated by the African Leadership Organisation and the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, focused on building partnerships and expanding trade.

Matekane emphasized Lesotho's commitment to economic transformation, highlighting its strategic location, abundant water resources, renewable energy potential, and a young workforce as attractive factors for investment in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, digital technologies, tourism, and renewable energy. He also discussed the importance of the African Continental Free Trade Area in enhancing intra-African trade and regional value chains, stating that Lesotho aims to create a stable and predictable environment for investors.
