Yoruba Youth Group Plans Picketing of MTN Nigeria Offices

The Oodua Youth Coalition (OYC), a Yoruba youth organization, has formally notified MTN Nigeria of its intent to picket the telecommunications giant's offices. This decision follows a seven-day ultimatum demanding that the South African-linked company publicly condemn ongoing xenophobic attacks against Nigerians and other African nations in South Africa.

The coalition, represented by Vice President Olatunji Adejuwon and Secretary Olaoy Abolaji, expressed deep disappointment at MTN Nigeria's continued silence on the matter. They criticized the company for ignoring previous direct appeals and termed this silence unacceptable, especially for a corporate entity that benefits significantly from the Nigerian market.

The OYC emphasized that the planned picketing aims to enforce corporate social responsibility and compel MTN Nigeria to demonstrate moral leadership. They have requested an immediate joint press conference with OYC representatives to denounce the violence and reaffirm their commitment to the dignity and safety of Africans.
