Xi Jinping to Strengthen Ties with Kyrgyzstan at SCO Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping will soon pay a state visit to Kyrgyzstan and attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek. This will be his third visit to Kyrgyzstan as president, following trips in 2013 and 2019.

The visit is part of Xi's broader neighborhood diplomacy, which emphasizes building friendships and partnerships with neighboring countries. In 2025, trade between China and Kyrgyzstan reached 27.2 billion U.S. dollars, reflecting a 20 percent year-on-year increase.

Last year, Xi and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov signed a joint statement to deepen the China-Kyrgyzstan comprehensive strategic partnership, focusing on infrastructure cooperation and exploring new areas in clean energy, green minerals, and artificial intelligence. Xi's approach to foreign relations has been consistent since he proposed the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness in 2013, emphasizing the importance of good relations with neighboring countries.
