Xi Jinping's Upcoming Visit to Egypt Strengthens Ties

Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to embark on his second state visit to Egypt, following his first in 2016. During that visit, Xi expressed admiration for Egypt's ancient civilization, particularly the Nile, and toured Luxor, an ancient city known for its archaeological significance.

Xi and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi exchanged views on their civilizations' distinctive features and historical connections, notably the ancient Silk Road that facilitated cultural and knowledge exchanges over 2,000 years ago. Xi's interest in ancient Egyptian civilization was noted by Mamdouh Eldamaty, the then Egyptian minister of antiquities, who accompanied him during the tours.

A significant moment during the 2016 visit was the launch of the 2016 China-Egypt Culture Year, marking the first such initiative between China and an Arab country. Xi has consistently advocated for stronger cultural exchanges to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and Egypt.
