PDP Criticizes Yari's Overzealous Comments on APC Future

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has responded to comments made by Abdul’Aziz Yari, the former governor of Zamfara State, regarding his new appointment as the Director General of the 2027 All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council. Yari suggested that the APC would retain the presidency beyond 2031, a statement made at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja after returning from an overseas trip.

In an interview with Vanguard, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, described Yari's comments as overzealous and advised him to concentrate on fulfilling the mandate given to him by President Bola Tinubu before making long-term projections about elections. Mohammed firmly rejected any notion that the opposition had conceded the 2027 presidential contest to the ruling party, emphasizing that the PDP is focused on the upcoming elections and that Yari should not be overwhelmed by his new position.
