Yari Appointed DG of APC Presidential Campaign Council

Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari was appointed as the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 elections by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on August 22, 2026. This appointment positions Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, in a critical role within the party's re-election strategy.

Yari's political career spans over two decades, beginning as Secretary of the All Nigeria People’s Party in Zamfara from 1999 to 2003, followed by serving as state chairman and National Financial Secretary of the party. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2007 and became the Governor of Zamfara State in 2011, winning re-election in 2015.

In 2015, he was also elected Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum. Currently, he represents Zamfara West in the Senate.

His diverse political roles have equipped him with the necessary skills for managing the complexities of a presidential campaign, which involves coordinating various interests and stakeholders.
