YIBA Celebrates Women in Science at Press Conference

YIBA held a press conference to commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, emphasizing the empowerment of Nigerian youth in STEM fields. The event featured distinguished leaders and advocates, including Adeniyi Adekunle and Michael Awosemo, who highlighted the need for women and girls to thrive in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Notable speakers included Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, the immediate past president of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, who shared her experiences and encouraged students to pursue careers in STEM.

Dr. Tewa Onasanya, founder and CEO of Exquisite Magazine, and Mr.

Oreoluwa Somolu Lesi, founder and executive director of W.TEC, also contributed insights on empowering women entrepreneurs and promoting leadership. The conference aimed to spotlight the importance of increasing female participation in STEM fields, addressing systemic barriers, and promoting policies that create equal opportunities for women and girls in science and technology.

The event served as a precursor to further initiatives aimed at achieving gender equity in STEM.
