Yobe State Approves N59.8bn for Infrastructure Projects

The Yobe State Executive Council, led by Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, ratified a total of N59.8 billion for the fast-tracking of various viable projects during a meeting in Damaturu on Monday. The approved memoranda encompass road construction, healthcare services, transport, energy, commerce, and sports development.

Notably, N34.1 billion was allocated for a road project covering 59 kilometers from Kaliyari to Bayamari and another 53 kilometers from Bayamari to Geidam. Additionally, N8.5 billion was approved for the construction of the Jajimaji modern market.

The council also allocated N5.3 billion for energy sector improvements, including the procurement of an 800kva power generator and the installation of 2,200 solar-powered street lights across 11 local government area headquarters. Furthermore, N5.5 billion was designated for various healthcare projects, including the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital in Damaturu, and N3.3 billion for ongoing reconstruction and upgrades of the August 27 Stadium in Damaturu.
