Yobe State Clarifies Ramadan Feeding Program Budget

The Yobe State Government has refuted claims that Governor Mai Mala Buni approved N398 billion for a Ramadan feeding program, labeling the report as inaccurate and misleading. The government clarified that the correct approved amount is N398 million, not N398 billion as reported.

This clarification was issued on Saturday, emphasizing that the total budget for Yobe State in 2026 stands at N515 billion, making the reported figure inconsistent with the state's fiscal framework. The N398 million allocated for the 2026 Ramadan feeding program will be implemented by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ethics Reorientation, focusing on supporting vulnerable and less privileged residents during the holy month of Ramadan.

The program will increase the number of feeding centers from 101 to 130 across 17 local government areas, providing iftar meals for 100 people daily throughout the fasting period. The breakdown of the funds includes N338 million for procuring food items and N60 million for allowing Muslim clerics to conduct tafsir.
