Sokoto Approves N1bn for Ramadan Feeding Program

The Sokoto State government has approved a budget of N1 billion for a Ramadan feeding program, as disclosed by Governor Ahmadu Aliyu. He announced the formation of a committee tasked with supervising the activities of the feeding centers, which will operate on Sundays.

This decision follows complaints regarding the record of last year's exercise. During the previous Ramadan, approximately 34,000 plates of food were served daily at various centers throughout the holy month.

The approved funds will be allocated for the procurement of food items, payment for labor, and logistics to ensure the smooth implementation of the program. Governor Aliyu urged wealthy individuals to embrace the culture of assisting the less privileged, particularly during Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of charity.
