Mbappé Slams Paraguayan Senator for Racist Remarks

Kylian Mbappé, the captain of the French national football team, publicly condemned Paraguayan senator Celest Amarilla for making racist comments following France's 1-0 victory over Paraguay in the World Cup round of 16 on July 4. In a post on X, Mbappé described Amarilla as a "despicable woman" and criticized her for her "reckless brazen racism" that overshadowed Paraguay's World Cup campaign.

He stated that her comments did not represent the country and expressed disappointment that such hatred could be spread globally. Amarilla's remarks included derogatory comments about Mbappé's background and were made in response to an incident during the match where Mbappé and Paraguayan goalkeeper Orlando Gill had a heated exchange.

Mbappé scored the only goal of the match via a penalty awarded after a VAR review. This victory marked Mbappé's 19th World Cup goal, placing him alongside Lionel Messi in the race for the tournament's golden boot.
