Edo Government Rejects Peter Obi's Allegations as False

The Edo State government has officially dismissed allegations made by Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and a member of the Labour Party, claiming that the state government is targeting members of his political camp. In a statement issued on Tuesday by Chief Press Secretary Dr. Patrick Ebojel, the government described Obi's claims as false and lacking credible evidence, suggesting they were intended to mislead the public and create unnecessary political tension.

The statement reiterated that the governor's earlier remarks regarding high-profile political visits were purely for security considerations. It also referenced an incident on February 23, where a faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), allegedly led by former Senate Chief Whip Roland Owi, disrupted a meeting at the residence of former Edo governor John Odigi Oyegun.

The government condemned any actions that could incite violence and urged political actors to verify facts before making public statements.
