Lagos Govt Responds to Tunde Ednut's Waste Video Claims

The Lagos State Government, through Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, addressed Instagram blogger Tunde Ednut regarding a viral video depicting large heaps of waste in the Mushin area. In a post on X dated September 5, 2026, Wahab criticized Ednut for sharing what he described as old footage that did not reflect the current state of the area.

He highlighted Ednut's tendency to portray Lagos negatively, which he argued harms the audience's perception. Wahab acknowledged that while Lagos faces waste management challenges, particularly due to residents' refusal to pay for private waste collection services, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has been actively working to maintain cleanliness in the area.

He concluded his statement by urging content creators to verify their information before publishing and distinguishing between constructive criticism and misleading content.
