Osun Governor Adeleke Warns APC Chairmen Against Illegally Extending Tenure

Osun State Governor Adeleke has strongly criticized the APC local government chairmen for allegedly attempting to extend their tenure beyond the constitutional limit of October 22, 2025. Adeleke's spokesperson, Olawal Rashe, emphasized that the chairmen's tenure cannot be elongated, citing Supreme Court rulings and the need to respect local government autonomy.

Adeleke accused the chairmen of illegitimately handling public funds and contravening state laws by trying to extend their stay in office. He warned that any attempt to unlawfully prolong their tenure would result in arrest and imprisonment.

Adeleke also revealed plans to meet with APC leader Bola Tinubu to address the issue of the chairmen's actions. The statement from the governor's office highlighted the governor's commitment to upholding efficient democracy and preventing the illegal extension of the chairmen's tenure.
