Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu's Economic Proposals

On Tuesday, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, criticized President Bola Tinubu for rejecting his proposal aimed at reducing the cost of living, only to later promote similar objectives under the banner of "Renewed Hope." In a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku emphasized that condemning his proposal while pursuing the same goals demonstrates a lack of economic consistency. He pointed out the struggles faced by ordinary Nigerians, including high transport fares, soaring food prices, and crippling energy costs over the past three years.

Atiku questioned why it took the government so long to recognize the need for economic relief and accused Tinubu of political convenience in addressing these issues. He stated that Nigerians have endured significant hardship and criticized the government's previous claims that their suffering was necessary for reform.
