Hadiza Isma Deni Defends El-Rufai Against ICPC Claims

Hadiza Isma Deni, the wife of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, publicly criticized the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) regarding their claims of discovering wiretapping devices at their Abuja residence. In her statement, she asserted that there was no truth to the ICPC's allegations.

Meanwhile, El-Rufai made an appeal for Nigerians to embrace peace and lawful conduct, warning against mob justice and self-help actions. He highlighted the need for citizens to establish institutions to address grievances rather than resorting to violence.

El-Rufai's legal troubles persist as a Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja, declined to entertain his bail application, describing it as premature. The court, presided over by Joyce Obehi Abdulmalik, adjourned the matter until April 23, 2026, for proper arraignment.

El-Rufai acknowledged the potential for prolonged detention and stressed the importance of adhering to the rule of law.
