Atiku Blames Tinubu for Uber's Exit from Nigeria

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has attributed Uber's exit from Nigeria to the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu's administration. In a statement released by his spokesman, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku criticized Tinubu's economic reforms as detrimental, stating they have resulted in job losses and increased living costs for Nigerians.

He argued that Uber left Nigeria on September 2, 2026, not due to a lack of demand for rides, but because passengers could no longer afford the fares, and drivers were unable to earn sufficient income to support their families. Atiku highlighted that rising fuel prices, increased costs for spare parts, car loans, and repairs, along with a depreciating naira and additional taxes imposed by Tinubu's administration, have compounded the financial burden on citizens.

He condemned the government's policies as "organised hardship" and vowed to make Nigeria affordable again.
