Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Accuses Akpabio of Media Plot

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio's office of trying to circulate damaging materials against her. This allegation was made in a Facebook post after she shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation that purportedly discussed the distribution of a video by social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM).

The message in the screenshot requested recommendations for national newspapers and blogs to publish the video, asking for five options and their cost implications. Akpoti-Uduaghan warned Akpabio, stating, “the pits you dig for me, you shall very well fall into.” The senator did not disclose the identity of the person behind the alleged WhatsApp conversation or provide independent evidence of the communication.

This incident is part of an ongoing dispute between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio that began in 2025 over her seating arrangement in the Senate and escalated with accusations of sexual harassment and victimization against Akpabio, which he denied. The Senate had previously suspended Akpoti-Uduaghan for alleged rule violations, prompting widespread reactions.
