Nigerian Youth Urged to Shape 2027 Elections at Town Hall

During a youth town hall meeting held at the National Assembly complex in Abuja, Nigerian lawmakers, including Speaker Abba Tajudeen and Prof. Julius Ihonvber, emphasized the critical role of youth in shaping the outcomes of the 2027 general elections.

The forum, part of the National Assembly's open week, aimed to foster civic engagement among young Nigerians. Lawmakers discussed various legislative initiatives focused on youth development, including the passage of the National Youth Service Corps Reform Bill and the Nigerian Youth Welfare Scheme Fund Bill.

Prof. Ihonvber noted that the youth represent the largest voting bloc and their active participation is essential for credible elections.

The meeting also featured contributions from the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodel Olawand, who praised the institutionalization of the youth town hall platform for direct engagement with lawmakers. Khalil Halilu, Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, encouraged youth to embrace innovation and technology to transform the economy.
