Stakeholders Urge Youth Engagement for 2027 Elections

At an election roundtable organized by the Humanitarian Foundation for Social Justice and The Create Studio Nigeria in Abuja, stakeholders called for increased youth participation in Nigeria's electoral process ahead of the 2027 elections. Olukemi Afolayan, Director of Civic, Values and Democracy Education at the National Orientation Agency (NOA), stated that the youthful population's involvement is crucial for the quality and future of democracy in Nigeria.

She emphasized that enfranchising a new generation of voters requires more than just registration and voting; it necessitates equipping them with knowledge, confidence, and civic values. Afolayan urged young Nigerians to reject vote buying, resist misinformation, and demand issue-based campaigns.

Prof. Ajibade Abiodun Michael, in his keynote address, asserted that young Nigerians are "not the future, but the present," advocating for their greater ownership of the democratic process. Adekunle Adebanjo, Executive Director of the Humanitarian Foundation for Social Justice, highlighted that credible elections are vital for public trust and political stability.
