Coseyl Suspends President for Defaming Deputy Speaker Kalu

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (Coseyl) has suspended its president, Goodluck Ibem, following accusations of issuing unauthorized and defamatory statements against Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Coseyl's leadership, led by Princ Ogbu Emmanuel, condemned Ibem's actions as a misrepresentation of the organization and described them as a rogue act that tarnishes its reputation. The group emphasized that Ibem's statements were politically motivated and lacked legal merit, particularly noting that the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) has no jurisdiction over the allegations made against Kalu.

Coseyl expressed pride in Kalu's service to the Igbo nation and issued an unreserved apology to him and his family for the distress caused by Ibem's statements. The suspension of Ibem is effective immediately, and any future statements made in Coseyl's name by him are declared null and void.
