Youths Demand Investigation into Deputy Speaker Kalu

Youths, represented by the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), are calling for an investigation into Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon.

Benjamin Okezie Kalu regarding alleged breaches of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and law school regulations. The group has raised concerns about the authenticity of Kalu's NYSC discharge certificate and his participation in the mandatory youth service scheme.

They argue that Kalu's actions, which include drawing full salaries while serving as a senior special adviser to the Abia State governor during his NYSC period, are unacceptable and undermine the integrity of the legal profession. COSEYL has urged the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) and NYSC to conduct a thorough and independent investigation without delay.

They have also advised Kalu to temporarily step aside from his position to preserve the integrity of the investigation. The group has threatened to mobilize for protests if Kalu does not resign to allow for a fair investigation.
