Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu Faces Investigation Calls

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, is under scrutiny following allegations concerning his enrollment in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and his participation in the Nigerian Law School. The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), a socio-political youth group, has called for an independent investigation into these allegations, emphasizing the need for transparency to protect the integrity of national institutions.

The group, led by President Goodluck Ibem and Secretary Okei Nwaoru, insists that the matter should be treated with urgency and that Kalu should temporarily step aside from his position to ensure a fair investigation. The allegations raise serious questions about Kalu's legal practitioner status and participation in the NYSC scheme, which COSEYL argues could undermine public confidence in the rule of law.

Former NBA First Vice President John Aikpokpo Martin has also filed a petition requesting a review of Kalu's records with the LPDC and NYSC.
