Ebonyi Youths and Women Support Umahi Against Allegations

Youth and women leaders from Ebonyi State have publicly defended Minister David Umahi against allegations of a N280 million campaign-related debt, which they describe as unfounded and a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation. Traci Ohiri, a businesswoman and activist, criticized the claims made by Omoyel Sowor, stating that they lacked credible evidence and were emotionally charged blackmail aimed at swaying public opinion against Umahi.

The group emphasized that the allegations should be treated as unproven until a court with competent jurisdiction makes a determination. They highlighted Umahi's tenure as governor from 2015 to 2023, noting his prudent management and significant infrastructural developments without any proven record of scandal or contractual default.

The leaders called for a professional handling of the matter by security agencies and the courts, reaffirming their support for Umahi and urging him to remain focused on delivering infrastructure development across the country.
