Kano Assembly Denies Impeachment Plot Against Deputy Governor Amid Defection Controversy

The Kano State House of Assembly has refuted claims of an impeachment plot against Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo after his defection to the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) from the All Progressives Congress (APC). This response came after the Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, sparked controversy by calling for Gwarzo's resignation during a radio interview.

The Speaker's spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, addressed journalists, dismissing the impeachment rumors as baseless and misleading. Shawai emphasized the Assembly's commitment to its legislative oversight functions and urged the public and media to verify information before sharing it to maintain political stability in Kano.
