APC Crisis in Zamfara: Lawal Accuses Yari of Hijacking

Ibrahim Lawal, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, has accused Abdulaziz Yari of hijacking the party's ward and local government congresses. In a statement made on Monday, Lawal described the congress as a total betrayal of internal democracy, alleging that Yari manipulated the process to favor certain individuals.

He claimed that Yari's actions involved financial influence and pressure, violating the Electoral Act and the APC constitution. Lawal further alleged that the list of winners included individuals not bona fide members of the APC and linked to rival parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He warned that failure to investigate these allegations could deepen internal divisions and erode public trust in the party. Lawal also mentioned Yari's recent closed-door meetings with ADC leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, fueling suspicions of divided loyalty.

He urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be cautious, asserting that Yari cannot be trusted amid claims of financial support for ADC candidates during recent elections.
