Zamfara Assembly Suspends Two LG Chairmen for Fraud

On Wednesday, the Zamfara State House of Assembly suspended two local government council chairmen, Mannir Mu Azu of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area and Umar Faru of Bukkuyum Local Government Area, due to allegations of financial misappropriation. The spokesperson for the House, Bello Kurya, stated that the suspension is a decisive step to strengthen transparency and accountability within local government administration across the state.

During a plenary session, the House's Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs presented a report recommending the suspension of the two chairmen after they failed to honor an invitation to explain their expenditures concerning allocated funds. The House, led by Deputy Speaker Adamu Aliyu Gumm, unanimously adopted the committee's recommendation for immediate suspension pending the conclusion of an investigation.

The action reflects a commitment to uphold accountability and ensure prudent management of public resources in Zamfara State.
