Zamfara Bye-Election Declared Inconclusive by INEC, Reason Mentioned

The Zamfara bye-election for the Kaura Namoda South State Constituency has been declared inconclusive by INEC due to a discrepancy in the margin of lead and the number of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected. The INEC Returning Officer, Lawal Sa'adu, announced the decision after the results from five polling units were canceled in Sakajiki and Kambarawa ward.

The APC secured more votes than the PDP, resulting in a margin of votes. The decision was made in accordance with the Electoral Act of 2022, which states that if the margin of lead is less than the number of canceled PVCs, the election is inconclusive.

INEC will announce a new date for a supplementary poll in the affected polling units to determine the final outcome. This comes after the APC emerged victorious in three other elections held in the state.
