Zamfara Education Commissioner Resigns Over APC Defection

Mallam Wadatau Madawaki, the Zamfara State Education Commissioner, has resigned from his position in the state executive council due to Governor Dauda Lawal's recent defection from the People Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Madawaki confirmed his resignation during an interview with Channel Television, emphasizing that his decision was based on loyalty to the PDP and that he had no intention of joining the APC.

He insisted that his resignation was voluntary and not coerced, despite claims suggesting otherwise. Governor Lawal's shift to the APC, alongside Deputy Governor Mani Malam Mummuni and several other members of the state executive council, was attributed to internal disagreements within the opposition party.

The resignation was accepted by Governor Lawal, and it was announced by Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government. Abdulmalik Abubakar Gajam is set to oversee the Ministry of Education's budget plan immediately following this development.
