Zamfara Governor Accuses FG of Bias Over Palliative Funds

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State accused the federal government of bias, stating that the state has not received any federal palliative funds due to his affiliation with the opposition party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Lawal claimed that while states controlled by the All Progressives Congress (APC) received substantial financial support, Zamfara State has struggled with serious economic and security challenges, relying solely on its resources to support residents.

He noted that the federal government had allocated 500 billion naira in palliative funds but that Zamfara received nothing. Lawal stressed that the distribution of federal funds should be fair and not influenced by political affiliations, urging that citizens should not suffer due to political rivalries.

His comments have reignited public debate about the equitable distribution of federal funds, with several opposition governors expressing similar concerns. Despite speculation about his potential departure from the PDP, Lawal affirmed his commitment to addressing the needs of Zamfara's citizens.
