Zamfara Governor Accuses FG of Withholding Funds

In an interview, Zamfara Governor Mr. Lawal accused the Federal Government of withholding intervention funds, claiming that while states governed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) received N500 billion, Zamfara has not received a single kobo since he assumed office in 2023.

He suggested that the lack of funding is linked to Zamfara's membership in the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP). Despite these challenges, Mr.

Lawal emphasized that his administration continues to execute projects without additional federal support, stating that the state is not taking new loans and is managing existing debts incurred by previous administrations. He noted that N1.2 billion is deducted monthly from the state's allocation to service these debts.

When asked about the possibility of leaving the PDP amid internal crises, Mr. Lawal expressed his commitment to the party, stating that he believes power comes from God and that he would consult with supporters to address the issues within the PDP.
