Zamfara Speaker Bilyaminu Moriki Leads 12 Lawmakers to APC

On Monday, during a plenary session in Gusau, Bilyaminu Moriki, the Speaker of the Zamfara House of Assembly, announced his defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside 12 other state assembly members. This decision was formalized with the presentation of resignation letters to the House.

The defectors, including Deputy Speaker Adamu Aliyu Gummi II, Chief Whip Rilwanu Nagambo, and major leader Bello Mazawaj, expressed their desire to support Governor Dauda Lawal in bringing development to the state. The defections followed Governor Lawal's own switch from the PDP to the APC.

The APC is scheduled to officially receive the defectors on Tuesday, March 24, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and other APC leaders present. The lawmakers emphasized that their decision was made to encourage smooth collaboration between the state and federal governments, aiming for full support of their constituencies.
