Zulum Appoints Kori to Lead Borno Investment Agency

On Thursday, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State appointed Dr. Sa'id Alkali Kori as the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Borno State Investment Promotion Agency.

This appointment aims to leverage Kori's expertise in infrastructure financing to support the state's economic reconstruction efforts. Kori, an accomplished entrepreneur with a PhD in Human and Social Sciences from the University of London, has previously served as a special advisor on international relations for the Yobe State Governor and as a technical advisor for the Lake Chad Basin Governors Forum.

His extensive experience includes managing a $200 million infrastructure financing initiative and negotiating $100 million in multilateral financing for affordable housing projects. The appointment follows the recent enactment of the Borno State Investment Promotion Agency Amendment Law No. 1 of 2026, which established a governing board for the agency.

Kori's role is seen as crucial for attracting investments and fostering public-private partnerships across the state.
