Borno Governor Zulum Approves Recruitment of 473 Medical Staff

Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Zulum has approved the recruitment of 473 medical personnel, which includes doctors and nurses, to improve healthcare delivery across the state. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure residents have better access to quality medical care.

The recruitment plan also includes the implementation of a rural posting allowance, which will provide 100% additional pay for doctors and 40% for nurses serving in hard-to-reach areas. The details were outlined in a memo from the Borno State Hospital Management Board, with Chief Medical Director Professor Abubakar Kullima emphasizing that the recruitment aims to attract and retain qualified medical professionals in rural communities.

The new health personnel will be deployed across general hospitals and primary health centers in Borno State's three senatorial zones. This initiative is part of Zulum's ongoing health sector interventions, which also include special training funds for resident doctors and the commissioning of new health facilities, such as eye and dental hospitals.
