Zulum Praises APC Primaries, Supports Consensus Candidate

Governor Babagana Zulum commended the peaceful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries held in Magumeri Town, Borno State. During the primaries, three aspirants indicated their interest in contesting for the House of Representatives ticket but later voluntarily stepped down to support the incumbent, Hon.

Usman Zannah. Zulum noted that this consensus arrangement is enshrined in the APC constitution and reflects political maturity and unity within the party.

He congratulated Zannah on emerging as the consensus candidate and expressed appreciation for the support from the people of Borno State. The governor emphasized that the party had made a decision to stop anyone from contesting against the consensus candidate, while also affirming that any aspirant not wishing to participate in the consensus arrangement retains the right to contest in direct primaries.

The primaries were conducted in accordance with the Electoral Act 2026.
