Zulum Advocates Consensus for APC Primaries in Borno

On Thursday, during a stakeholders' meeting held at the multipurpose hall of the Government House in Maiduguri, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to adopt a consensus approach for selecting candidates for the upcoming 2027 primaries. Zulum stressed that consensus remains a viable option to strengthen party unity.

He acknowledged that if consensus fails, the party may resort to direct primaries, emphasizing that candidates should not be forced upon particular constituencies. Zulum encouraged aspirants to remain patient and consider future opportunities within the party.

He announced the formation of a zonal consultative committee led by Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur, with representatives from various zones including Ali Bukar Dalori and Moham Tahir Monguno. The meeting featured formal presentations regarding the APC's consensus governorship candidacy, with Mustapha Gubio being a notable stakeholder in attendance.
