Prof. Joash Amupitan, Chairman of INEC, confirmed the commission's readiness for the 15 August 2026 Osun state governorship election after a five-day assessment tour. He reported satisfactory performance of the BVAS technology and increased the number of devices for the election.
INEC will deploy 5,130 BVAS devices for the August 15 Osun election, 175 fewer than in 2022, despite an increase in polling units. The commission has increased backup devices to 1,328 following concerns from political parties.
