Dolly Parton, Country Music Legend, Passes Away at 77

Dolly Parton, a renowned country music icon, singer-songwriter, actress, and philanthropist, died on August 25, 2023. The announcement was made by her nephew, Brian Seaver, via a social media video.

Born on January 19, 1946, in Tennessee, Parton began her musical career at a young age, performing on local television by age 10 and recording her first song at 13. She gained national fame in 1967 after joining 'The Porter Wagoner Show'.

Parton is celebrated for writing classics like “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You”, the latter famously covered by Whitney Houston. Over her career, she sold more than 100 million records and won 11 Grammy Awards.

In addition to her music, she starred in films such as 9 to 5 and Steel Magnolias. Parton was also known for her philanthropic efforts, including the Imagination Library, which provides free books to children.

She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. Parton was married to Carl Dean in May 1966 until his death in March 2025.
