Dolly Parton, a legendary figure in country music, died at the age of 80 on August 25, 2026. The announcement was made by her nephew, Brian Seaver, via Instagram.

Born into poverty in rural Tennessee, Parton was the fourth of 12 children and began performing at age 10. She moved to Nashville after high school in 1964, initially working as a songwriter before launching her recording career.

Her debut album, "Hello, I'm Dolly," marked her transition to country music. Notable hits include "Jolene," "I Will Always Love You," and "9 to 5," the latter earning her an Oscar nomination.

Parton accumulated 25 US country No 1 singles, 47 Top 10 country albums, and 10 Grammy Awards throughout her career. She also founded the Imagination Library, donating over 150 million books to children globally.

Married to Carl Dean since 1966, she renewed their vows in 2016. Dean passed away in 2025.
