Nigerian Navy Provides Free Healthcare to Delta Residents

On Saturday, the Nigerian Navy conducted a healthcare outreach in Uvwi Kingdom, Uvwi Local Government Area, Delta State, benefiting no fewer than 100 residents. This initiative was part of the Navy's 70th anniversary celebrations and aimed to provide free medical consultations, laboratory tests, eye and dental examinations, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, and deworming for children.

Commodore Shehu Tasiu, the Commander of the Nigerian Navy in Delta, emphasized the Navy's commitment to improving the welfare of host communities beyond its core security responsibilities. The outreach was designed to alleviate healthcare burdens on vulnerable residents and promote healthier living.

Captain Umar Adamu from the Nigerian Navy Hospital in Effurun noted that the program addressed common health challenges and referred patients requiring specialized treatment to hospitals for further care. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the intervention, with 86-year-old Samson Unuagba receiving treatment that significantly improved his vision.
