NDHII Saves 10,000 Lives, Trains 2,000 Health Workers

Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, announced that the National Diaspora Health Impact Initiative (NDHII) has successfully saved 10,000 lives and trained 2,000 frontline health workers in Nigeria's six geopolitical zones. This announcement was made during the National Diaspora Merit Award on Saturday in Abuja, themed “Harnessing Global Diaspora Medical Expertise to Strengthen Local Health Systems for National Development.” Dr Salako noted the contributions of UK-based health professionals from the Medical Association of Nigerians Across Great Britain (MANSAG) and the Nigerian Nurses Charitable Association UK (NNCA-UK), who have trained over 1,000 healthcare workers in the Safer Births Bundle of Care (SBBC) in Kano, Kaduna, and Sokoto States.

Additionally, doctors from the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA) conducted specialist missions in Enugu, Imo, and Abia, providing 4,000 medical consultations and performing over 500 surgeries while training 350 health workers. The ministry is committed to facilitating the involvement of diaspora health professionals in Nigeria's healthcare system.
