Port Harcourt to Host 2026 International Marathon

The Port Harcourt International Marathon is scheduled for November 14, 2026, and is expected to attract over 10,000 runners and officials from various African countries. Goodluck Azunwena, the convener of Port Harcourt To The World, announced this during a press briefing in Port Harcourt.

He described the marathon as a landmark initiative that goes beyond athletics, serving as a catalyst for unity, youth empowerment, tourism promotion, and economic development. Azunwena emphasized that the organization has spent the last decade supporting projects that celebrate the resilience and creativity of Port Harcourt.

The marathon aims to position Port Harcourt on the international sporting map, stimulating local businesses and attracting visitors. It will feature elite and amateur runners, sports enthusiasts, corporate organizations, and tourists, further enhancing Rivers State's profile as a destination for international sporting events.
