Rivers Group Aims to Empower 50,000 Women with Skills

The Rivers Women Unit in Port Harcourt has launched an initiative to empower 50,000 women across 23 local government areas in Rivers State through a skills acquisition program. This announcement was made during a monthly prayer meeting held at the Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt.

The program aims to improve women's livelihoods by equipping them with practical skills to cope with the changing economic realities of the nation. Glori Sundai, an officer of the Rivers Women Unit, emphasized the importance of women developing skills to support their families and contribute to societal development.

Adata Bio Brigg, the former chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in the state, explained that the program is designed to strengthen women's capacities and encourage economic independence. The initiative includes training in various skills, such as soap making, and aims to reach at least 50,000 women, depending on their interests.

The program is set to commence in June and July, with a commitment to sustain the empowerment efforts.
