11 Cows and Herder Killed in Rivers State Crash

On Thursday, a crash occurred at Evekwu in Rumuodogu, along the East-West Road in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, resulting in the deaths of 11 cows and a yet-to-be-identified herder. Eyewitnesses reported that the cattle were crossing the road when a speeding Mercedes Benz struck them.

The occupants of the vehicle, who were traveling in a convoy, abandoned the damaged car and fled the scene in another vehicle. Police officers from the Emohua Division evacuated the deceased herder's body to the morgue, while an injured victim was taken for medical attention.

Blessing Agabe, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command and an Assistant Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident, stating that one person died and another was injured but is now stable. Agabe noted that the owner of the Mercedes Benz fled before police arrived, and investigations are ongoing.
