Eleven Dead in Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway Accident

On Sunday, a tragic accident occurred on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State, resulting in the deaths of eleven individuals. The vehicle involved was a gold Toyota, registered under the number GGE722KJ, which reportedly somersaulted and plunged off the Eruku Bridge.

According to Afolabi Odunsi, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident happened earlier that night. The vehicle was carrying eleven occupants, comprising ten adult males and one adult female, all of whom lost their lives in the crash.

The FRSC's Itori unit command quickly deployed a rescue team to the scene. Upon impact, the vehicle's doors were locked, trapping the victims inside.

The bodies of the deceased were recovered and taken to a state specialist hospital morgue in Ifo. Preliminary reports suggest that the driver may have been influenced by overload, which could have contributed to the accident.

Oludar Ogunjobi, the sector commander, advised motorists to exercise caution while traveling along the route, especially during night journeys.
