Eleven Killed in Ogun State Road Crash on Eruku Bridge

On Monday, a tragic road accident occurred in Ogun State, resulting in the deaths of eleven individuals, including ten adult males and one adult female. The incident involved a gold Toyota vehicle with the registration number GGE722KJ, which reportedly somersaulted and plunged off Eruku Bridge.

According to Odunsi Afolabi, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, preliminary investigations indicated that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol and that the vehicle was overloaded, contributing to the crash. The vehicle's occupants were trapped inside, and upon impact, the doors were locked, complicating rescue efforts.

FRSC personnel, along with local community members, worked to dismantle the vehicle and recover the bodies, which were subsequently deposited at the state specialist hospital morgue in Ifo. Oludar Ogunjobi, the Ogun State sector commander of the FRSC, advised motorists to exercise caution, especially when driving at night, and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
