11 People Die in Ogun State Road Crash on Sunday Night

On Sunday night, a tragic road accident occurred along the Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway in Ogun State, resulting in the deaths of at least 11 individuals. The incident took place near Eruku Bridge when a gold Toyota vehicle, marked GGE722KJ, somersaulted and fell off the bridge, trapping its occupants inside.

According to Odunsi Afolabi, a spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, preliminary reports suggest that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and that the vehicle was overloaded, which are likely contributing factors to the crash. All 11 occupants, comprising 10 adult males and one adult female, lost their lives in the incident.

FRSC personnel, along with local community members, assisted in dismantling the vehicle to recover the bodies of the deceased, which were subsequently moved to a state specialist hospital morgue in Ifo.
