11 Killed, 52 Houses Destroyed in Nasarawa Violence

On Friday, violence erupted in Nasarawa State, resulting in the deaths of at least 11 individuals and the destruction of 52 houses. The clashes occurred in the Lafia Local Government Area, reportedly as a reprisal attack linked to the alleged killing of two kinsmen.

Ramhan Nansel, the spokesman for the Nasarawa State Police Command, confirmed the tragic events in a statement issued the previous day. Shettima Moham, the State Commissioner of Police, led a team to assess the affected communities and ascertain the level of destruction.

He expressed deep sorrow over the incident and assured the families of the deceased of the police's unwavering commitment to justice. The Commissioner ordered an intensified search for the perpetrators and directed the deployment of additional police personnel to the area.

The police are collaborating with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to ensure adequate security and restore peace, urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies.
