Police Investigate Violent Clash in Nasarawa State

On March 25, 2026, a violent clash occurred in the Unguwan Yobe community of Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, resulting in one fatality and several injuries. The Nasarawa State Police Command, led by spokesperson Ramhan Nansel, has commenced a full investigation into the incident.

The conflict began when a group of herders allegedly trespassed on farmland owned by Sundai Ado, a 40-year-old vigilant member of the community. A confrontation ensued, during which Ado reportedly retreated to retrieve a pump-action firearm and discharged a shot that struck Ado Yau, a 17-year-old herder.

Following this, herders mobilized in large numbers and launched a reprisal attack, leading to the burning of four houses, two motor vehicles, and three motorcycles, with four individuals sustaining various degrees of injury. Police and military personnel were dispatched to restore order, and two individuals, Muhammadu Ibrahim (25) and Ado Gambo (18), were identified as having been fatally shot.

The police have arrested Sundai Ado and 15 other male suspects in connection with the disturbance.
